Visiting Kilkenny City?
The medieval Kilkenny City is a cultural gem of festivals and historical sites including the iconic Kilkenny Castle which dates back to 1195 following construction by Norman occupiers. Kilkenny also has boats extensive religious roots with a whole host of well-preserved churches and monasteries dotted around the city and surrounding areas, including the imposing St. Canice’s Cathedral and the Black Abbey Dominican priory.
Kilkenny City is easily accessible for those beginning their journey from Dublin Airport via the M9 Motorway and from Shannon Airport via the M7 Motorway. If you choose to drive from the UK you can reach the Irish east coast via ferries departing from Holyhead, Pembroke, Fishguard and Liverpool. For our UK guests flying in to Dublin, you can reach Kilkenny by train from Heuston station, or from Limerick Station if you're flying to Shannon Airport.
